About this deal

From the very beginning of the book we are drawn into the mystery with an opening scene that is starts in a surprisingly light and almost upbeat way, but holds a kind of unease as you know that something is afoot.

The characterisations were excellent even though many of the characters have the reader fooled for a while. From early on, you loathe most of the characters, but you also can't stop reading because you have no idea what next-level craziness they might come up with next.Featuring the work of 30 world famous artists such as Alejandro Garcia Restrepo, Heiko Mueller, Leslie ODell, Mojo Wang, Fernando Forero and Alessandro Sicoldr with accompanying stories often drawn from their personal lives that led to the creation such disturbing artwork. As Carlie unravels the secrets of her mother’s journal she begins to see similarities between Andre and Rowan and coupled with ominous warnings as well as an ultimatum, she makes a decision that leads to tragic consequences. I am not sure if there is a previous book to this which may actually explain abit about the character. I definitely recommend it if you need something to put you out of your basics reads and out of your boundaries ! I was impressed by the way she was masterfully able to bring each character to life with their own unique voice, switching effortlessly between characters and accents.

Whilst this was not my favourite book by the author, it will still be a good choice for readers who love morally corrupt characters and an element of darkness and menace running through the story. But that next sentence doesn’t necessarily have to be the next sentence as the reader will encounter it. Into the Dark is the new dark and gripping crime thriller from Fiona Cummins about revenge, greed, ambition and the true cost of. In New York Times- bestselling science fiction epic Out of the Dark , Earth beat back an alien invasion.

There is so much deception, so much misdirection, it is hard to know who to trust, and each new reveal becomes more shocking than the last. This book drew me in immediately, with the eerie mystery of the missing family and as it went along the author weaved a twisted and fascinating story full of surprises. This isn’t billed as part of that series (however) and Cummins gives us enough backstory that it doesn’t matter if you haven’t read Rattle or The Bone Collector. This book made me question what I was comfortable with and what I was willing to believe for the sake of a story.

And Smith himself would be the first to tell you to adapt them to your own purposes (which this editor will tell you should include revision). I wasn't keen on the way it all developed because it felt shallow and convenient rather than revealing any kind of deeper themes. Many thanks to Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for the much appreciated arc which I reviewed voluntarily and honestly. Padawan Reath Silas is being sent from the cosmopolitan galactic capital of Coruscant to the undeveloped frontier—and he couldn’t be less happy about it.Indeed, the characters are, pretty much without exception, complete weirdos, not least young detective constable Saul Anguish (yes, really) and his narcoleptic forensic linguist colleague, who he nicknames "Blue" after the colour of her hair. I think the blurb doesn’t really match the story line, I think it was obvious, I wasn’t blown away and certainly not impressed. No matter how far-fetched the answers might have been, I did want to see if the theory I came up with quite early on would pan out.
